TEENS, 16-18+ years old and already strong in their Catholic Faith, are invited to a deepening of that faith during the 2022 Eagle Eye Summer Institute in Maria Stein, OH! Come join us on an eight-day summer session full of fun, friendship, recreation, prayer, and study. Led by the Brothers and Sisters of St. John, we are dedicated to helping you make this experience the best it can be!
This summer, our classes focus on our theme, Affirming God’s Existence: the Darkness of Doubt to the Illumination of Truth. Our study theme, along with daily Mass, Offices, and a Holy Hour, gives teens time to grow closer to Christ. We encourage you to take this opportunity to know God and discover His plan for you.
Join the Brothers and Sisters of St. John and other Catholic young adults ages 20 – 35, July 7 – 17 and discover God in the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness. Experience the rhythm of the liturgical observances of the Community of St. John. Early in this program we will be hiking the 24 mile Crow Pass Trail, well-known in Alaska as part of the historic Iditarod trail. For the 4 days of our backcountry adventure we’ll brave the challenges of crossing the glacial waters of Eagle River while also forging new friendships immersed in God’s creation. Following our hike, we will gather at the retreat center near Anchorage, with its stunning Chugach Mountains rising up on the fringes of the city, to continue theology and philosophy as part of our daily rhythm.
We invite teens, ages 16-18, to embark on an 8 day summer session full of fun, friendship, recreation, prayer, and study. Our retreat will be on the monastery grounds of the Community of St. John in Princeville, IL and is led by Brothers and Sisters of St. John. For 18 summers, young people have gathered at the Eagle Eye Teen Summer Institute in Princeville, Illinois to search for what is most profound – God.
This summer, our classes will focus on the theme “Affirming the Existence of God; From the Darkness of Doubt to the Illumination of Truth“. The classes, along with Mass, the Divine Office, and a Holy Hour each day, give teens the opportunity to grow closer to Christ and be formed in the truths of the faith. Campfires, sports, and recreation offer a chance to form deep friendships with other teens dedicated to growing in holiness.
We are eager to enter the thirteenth year offering the Eagle Eye Summer Institute for Young Adults. Eagle Eye is different than any other young adult retreat. Father Nathan Cromly of the Community of St. John launched Eagle Eye eighteen years ago with the idea to go as deep and as intense as we possibly can at all levels: prayer, formation, friendship, and Christian living. This program is destined to give those who want it, a taste of what it means to be truly Catholic and in love with Christ. For eight days, young adults ages 18 to 30, already strong in the understanding and practice of their faith, challenge themselves to a deeper appreciation and awareness of that faith.
For eleven days you will follow the footsteps of St. Paul and experience beautiful sites throughout Greece. Visit Philippi where Paul the Apostle delivered his first sermon and established the first Church in Europe, Mars Hill in Athens where he spoke to the Athenians, Corinth and the site of St. Paul’s trials by Gallio, and more! You will even visit the House of the Virgin Mary in Ephesus in Turkey where she lived until her Assumption according to Catholic Doctrine. A popular Pilgrimage site, this Shrine has even received several papal visits and blessings. On your 3-day cruise you will discover the captivating and beautiful Greek Islands like Mykonos, Crete, and Santorini.
